The North Broadway Children's Center where Stella attends preschool celebrated The Week of the Young Child last week. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children the Week of the Young Child is in it's 40th year. NAEYC describes the week this way, "The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs."
North Broadway Children's Center had fun activities for the kids all week. Stella had fun each day wearing something different and enjoying the activities at school.
Monday was costume day and a parade at school! Stella dressed like a chicken, of course. My sister happened to have a chicken costume that my niece wore a couple years ago. Needless to say, Stella has hardly taken it off since.
Bok, bok!
Tuesday was wear your class color day and the art show was that evening. Each class has been working on projects for the annual art show. This year each room drew a color to work with. Stella's class, known as the Butterflies drew pink. They made a large, pink, paper mache dinosaur named Brachi. Check out all the pics from the art show below.

Wednesday was hat day and smoothies in the classroom. Stella wore a great hat our friend Sharon gave her.
Thursday was mis-match day and the Whetstone High School Jazz Band and Ensemble played music for all the classes. It was funny, we kept saying that mis-match day is like any day the kids dress themselves.
We really got into it with different socks and shoes.
Friday was pajama day with a pizza party at school. Stella insisted on wearing footie pajamas, luckily they look great with boots!
So, back to normal next week. Whatever that is around here!
